Eight Steps to a Happier You

How To Be Happy:

1.Serve others. I feel like this is probably the best way to forget about your own issues. It's been proven that the majority of successful happy people donate money and/or time to some sort of charity. Not only will you have a better outlook on life after serving, you will start to grow a certain love for those that you serve.

1. Prioritize and Organize. Have a day planner and use it. Prioritizing your time and having an organized home and lifestyle will help cut back on stress levels making you a happier person. Have you ever felt like you needed to get something done but couldn't remember what it was, and then before you realized, it was the end of the day and you were then scrambling to get dinner and about a thousand other things done? Take the time to prioritize and organize now, so you won't be stressed later..

3. Make Time for Yourself. There was a study I read recently that basically said when we don't make sure to have "you time", we start becoming resentful to those that take up our time. I thought that was interesting....So to feel happier and easier to be around we HAVE to go get a mani and pedi ;) It doesn't really matter what "you time" is, as long as you have that time for yourself. For me, blogging, gym time, long baths, facials, manis and pedis, and even an occasional nap is my "me time."

4. Make Family No. 1! It is so easy to get caught up in our own personal lives and schedules that sometimes we start to let family and relationships fall behind...Not saying that they're any less important, but when we're so focused on being successful sometimes we don't realize the toll it takes on our relationships. David O. McKay said, "No other success can compensate for failure in the home." I love this quote because even though being successful is important and a great goal to have, it's not everything. We need to strengthen our relationships with our biggest cheerleaders in life.

5. Have a Goal. Work towards something. Happy people are constantly finding ways to grow and better themselves. I recently went to a Northwestern Mutual convention with my husband, and they had some of the most impressive speakers. One of them asked us as an audience what our sentence would be. He went on to say that when we spread ourselves too thin and try to do everything under the sun, nothing ever  seems to get done. It is when we focus on one or two things that we'll be extremely successful. Take Abe Lincoln, his sentence was, " He freed the slaves, and preserved the union."....K now I'm not saying that our goal should be to cure cancer or a solution to world hunger, but find something your interested in and have a goal to excel in that thing.

6. Faith. This should really be number one but have some sort of belief or faith in a higher power. I believe this. Everyone has a purpose in life, find what yours is.

7. Exercise! Exercising releases endorphins throughout your body. Basically put, you'll have more energy, be living healthier, and happier just from going to the gym. I feel like that's a win win :)

8. Be Goofy!! Learn to let your hair down a little and have fun! Don't be afraid to make fun of yourself or look dorky....it can be fun!!

Just some random fun pics that make me smile!...

I hope this was helpful to y'all....or even just one of y'all lol! I know that I've noticed a HUGE difference in my life by applying the above steps. It may be hard at first just because of old habits, but it's worth it and it works I promise!!

Hope everyone has a great hump day!! Half way there!!

XO Amanda
